Owner Dave Newman started Owl Point Bakery after noticing that while there were many gluten-free baked goods out there, none of them were truly a perfect substitute for their glutenous counterparts. With his dedication to perfecting each recipe, you can expect nothing but the best ingredients to make up the perfect, gluten-free baked goods. When Dave approached me about updating the logo and creating a brand that allowed him to stand out among the farmers market and online-ordering crowd, I was very excited to get down to work…which included many taste-tests (for research purposes, of course).
Brand Identity Design:
- Primary & Secondary Logo
- Color Palette
- Pattern Design
- T-shirt Design
The old logo was simply a place holder as the bakery got up and running, and did not fully speak to the target audience or local community Owl Point Bakery serves. The ultimate goal was to appeal to many demographics, not wanting to create a brand that was too high-end as the main customer is the everyday worker, friend, and neighbor.
The updated branding includes a friendlier logo with a bolder, more legible, cursive typeface, sprinkled with crumbs, representing a more approachable, realistic way of baking (and eating!) These crumbs are also a nod to the stars one might view from the Owl Point trail the bakery was named after.
The associated logo mark creates the perfect mixing spoon and can be easily used across digital and print assets without straying from the main logo. The color palette is derived from scenery of both the west and east coast, a nod to the owner’s hometown (Boston) and where he is currently living (L.A.).
